I wouldn't bother getting OCD about lead contamination. A) The risk is extremely small these days and b) like any obsession, you'll be likely to find it in the darndest places and go a bit nutty about it - and waste a lot of time in your life. Keep lead away from small children and live your life.

As regards guns not factory tested, as you know, most guns are factory tested with a real bullet. Glocks even give you the shell casing of the proof test. I don't know of any that would test with lead-free bullets but I may be wrong. In any event, when I buy a gun, I have typically run it through an ultrasonic cleaner just to get a nice clean gun. That's possibly one option, or you could just clean it thoroughly with good cleaning tools. I think you could also wash a gun with water and TSP (real trisodium phosphate, not a look-alike). TSP attaches to lead and forms lead phosphate, so this should clean the gun well. After washing it, dry it thoroughly and lubricate it well and you are fine (yes, you can wash guns, it's not crazy).

Or, you could be like 99% of all gun owners and just go shoot the gun and enjoy yourself!Tampa Bay Conservation Leaguehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08658289053120690415noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-993891719085798489.post-78978967579185311392021-07-15T17:18:27.136-04:002021-07-15T17:18:27.136-04:00That´s the best post I have read on the subject!
